THE STONE ANGEL “TRIP OF A LIFETIME” CONTEST RULES
(the “Rules”)

CONTEST PERIOD: The Contest shall run from April 25, 2008 at 12:01pm (ET) to June 2, 2008 at 12:01pm (ET), inclusive (the “Contest Period”). All entries must be received (or post-marked) no later than 12:01 pm (ET) on June 2, 2008 after which time the Contest will be closed and no further entries shall be accepted.

CONSENT TO USE PERSONAL INFORMATION: By entering “The Stone Angel Trip of a Lifetime” Contest (the “Contest”) electronically and voluntarily providing your personal information (including, but not limited to e-mail address, first name, last name, date of birth, mobile phone number, city, province, postal code, and daytime phone number) (collectively “Registrant Information”) you consent to Sponsors’ collection and use of the Registrant Information to administer this Contest. In addition, by opting-in online, you consent to Alliance and/or VIA Rail’s use of your Registrant Information to:

(a) contact you to promote draws, interactive features and contests similar to the Contest;

(b) promote opportunities to subscribe to Alliance and/or VIA Rail newsletters and promotional clubs; and;

(c) notify you about programs and special events and automatically enter you into some of the other Alliance and/or VIA Rail-sponsored draws and contests (collectively, the “Additional Uses”).

You may revoke your consent to the Additional Uses at any time (without revoking your participation in the Contest or impairing your chances of winning) by submitting your e-mail address on Alliance’s “unsubscribe” page at HYPERLINK http://alliancefilms.com/unsubscribe.html and/or on VIA Rail’s “unsubscribe page” in your personalized e-bulletin. You may also unsubscribe by writing to Alliance at 121 Bloor Street East, Suite 1500, Toronto, Ontario, M4W 3M5, Attention: “The Stone Angel” Contest.

If you choose to register by mail-in entry to participate in the Contest, or have not opted-in to the Additional Uses, your Registrant Information will be collected and used by Sponsors only to administer the Contest and for notifications as set out in these Rules and for no other purpose unless otherwise required by law. Your Registrant Information will not be disclosed or transferred to any third party without your consent.

3. CONTEST PARTICIPATION: NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. By entering the Contest, you agree to be bound by the Rules. In order to enter the Contest, and qualify for a chance to win the Prizes (as defined in Section 4 of the Rules) you may enter in either of the following ways:

a) Visit www.alliancefilms.com, click the “Contests” button, click the “Contest” banner, complete the on-line entry form with your Registrant Information and submit the entry form in its entirety; or

b) On a plain piece of paper, hand-print your Registrant Information and mail to: Alliance Films, 121 Bloor St. East, 15th Floor, Toronto, Ontario M4W 3M5, Attn: “The Stone Angel Contest”

Only one (1) qualifying mail-in entry per household address and one (1) qualifying entry per e-mail address will be accepted during the Contest Period. In the event it is discovered that any individual attempted to enter the Contest more than once, all of that individual’s entries will be disqualified from this Contest. Mail-in entry must bear sufficient postage, which is the sole responsibility of the entrant. Entries generated by a script, macro or other automated means are void. Entries that contain typographical errors, are altered, tampered with, incomplete, inaccurate, irregular in any way, or otherwise not in compliance with these Rules, are also void. Proof of sending an entry is not deemed to be proof of receipt. No correspondence will be entered into except with selected entrants.

GRAND PRIZE: One (1) Grand Prize is available to be won, consisting of:

One (1) return trip for two (2) people between Toronto and Vancouver on board The Canadian* in Silver & Blue class, provided by VIA Rail, including accommodation and all meals for the duration of the train trip;
One (1) stopover in Jasper, Alberta, consisting of four (4) nights accommodation at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge** (on a double occupancy basis), including daily breakfasts and one (1) complimentary boat rental (during summer months only);

Conditions:

All travel must be completed between July 1, 2008 and July 1, 2009.
Grand Prize is non-transferable, has no cash value and cannot be extended.
Accommodation at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge may not be substituted for any other hotel location, and no other accommodation is included in the Grand Prize. Should Grand Prize winner not use any or all of the four (4) nights at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, such unused portion will be forfeited..
Grand Prize winner may opt to travel all or any portion of the Toronto-Vancouver route as outlined in the Grand Prize however, any portion of the Grand Prize not used will be forfeited.. If Grand Prize winner is unable to travel the Toronto-Vancouver route outlined above in the Grand Prize, VIA Rail will substitute a trip voucher applicable toward a trip of equal or lesser value on another VIA Rail route, subject to availability.
Travel bookings are subject to availability, and blackout dates and other restrictions may apply.
Selected winner is responsible for paying all surcharges associated with the Grand Prize, which must be paid at the time of booking, and any additional incidental charges that might arise that are not specifically included in the Grand Prize, including but not limited to additional activities, additional ground transportation, stopovers, PST, GST and all other such taxes, travel, repatriation and health insurance, personal expenses, gratuities, meals, entertainment, etc.
It is the Grand Prize winner’s sole responsibility to ensure that he/she and his/her guest arrives at the appointed departure times and locations as per the itinerary to be provided by Sponsors. Additional ground transportation to and from train stations is not included. Sponsors will bear no responsibility or liability for any lost or replacement tickets, or any additional or substitute transportation should winner or winner’s guest for any reason miss the scheduled departure times, all of which shall be at the winner’s sole responsibility and expense.
All of the above Grand Prize details are subject to change without notice at the Sponsors’ sole discretion.

The approximate retail value of the VIA Rail trip is CDN$9,000 and the approximate retail value of the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge accommodation is CDN$3,500.Total approximate value of the Grand Prize is CDN$12,500.

SECONDARY PRIZE: One (1) Secondary Prize is available to be won, which consists of a Margaret Laurence book library consisting of the following nine (9) books:

The approximate retail value of the Secondary Prize is CDN$130.00.

The Grand Prize and Secondary Prize are collectively referred to herein as the “Prize” or “Prizes”.

If either of the Prizes are forfeited, then such forfeited Prize will not be offered to any other entrant and will not be redrawn, unless Sponsors decide to redraw in their sole discretion.

5. RANDOM DRAWS AND ODDS: The random draws for the Grand Prize and Secondary Prize from the eligible entries received will be held at the Alliance office located at 121 Bloor Street East in Toronto, Ontario on or about June 3, 2008. The random draws will be carried out by Alliance.

Within forty-eight (48) hours from the time of the draws, the selected entrants for the Grand Prize and Secondary Prize may be notified either by: (i) an initial telephone call during regular business hours (ET) at the home telephone number or mobile number recorded at the time of entry or (ii) an email to the e-mail address provided at the time of entry. If any selected entrant cannot be reached within forty-eight (48) hours from the time of initial contact, an alternative entry may be selected until such time as a selected entrant satisfies the terms of this section.

Once contacted, a selected entrant must, in order to be declared eligible to receive any of the Grand Prize or Secondary Prizes, as applicable:

a) comply with all Rules;

b) correctly answer a time-limited mathematical skill testing question (which will be administered at a pre-arranged time with the selected entrant) without the assistance of another person or mechanical device; and,

c) sign Alliance’s standard declaration of compliance with the Rules, release and consent to publicity form (the “Consent”), which shall serve as the selected entrant’s agreement to release and indemnify the Sponsors and their parent(s), subsidiaries, affiliates and/or related companies and each of their officers, directors, shareholders, employees, advisors, assignees, agents, licensees, representatives, advertising, media buying and promotional agencies from any liability in connection with the Contest and/or the prizes. If Alliance does not receive a signed Consent back from the selected entrant within five days from the delivery of the Consent to the entrant, then such entrant shall forego any right or entitlement to a Prize and Alliance may draw another entrant’s name.

The odds of being selected in the random draw depend on the number of eligible entries received. A qualifying entry and/or entrant may only win once. If the entrant has satisfied all of the above conditions, the applicable Grand or Secondary Prize will be delivered to the address provided by the entrant on the consent within thirty (30) days of receipt of the fully and correctly completed Consent.

6. ELIGIBILITY: The Contest is open to all residents of Canada, excluding:

(a) residents of the province of Quebec;

(a) those who are under the age of majority in the province in which they reside at the time of entry; and,

(b) employees, officers, directors and shareholders of:

(i) Contest Sponsors; and

(ii) Contest Sponsors’ advisors, assignees, agents, licensees, media buying and promotional agencies, or a member of such person’s immediate family or household. In these Rules, “immediate family” means mother, father, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, or legal or common-law spouse.

7. COMPLETE SET OF RULES: For an additional set of these Rules and/or the Grand Prize winner’s name, send a written request by self-addressed, stamped envelope (ensure that sufficient postage is included) to: Alliance Films Inc – The Stone Angel Contest Rules, 121 Bloor Street East, 15th Floor, Toronto, Ontario M4W 3M5 or visit www.alliancefilms.com or attend in person at the offices of Alliance Films Inc at 121 Bloor Street East, Suite 1500, Toronto, Ontario, between 9:00 a.m. (EST) and 5:00 p.m. (EST), Monday through Friday (except holidays).

8. GENERAL RULES:

Sponsors shall not be responsible or bear any liability for:

late-received, lost, unintelligible/illegible, falsified, incomplete, destroyed or misdirected entries;
entries which fail to comply with the Rules; and,
any failure of the www.alliancefilms.com website during the Contest Period, including any problems or technical malfunction of any computer on-line systems, human error, servers, access providers, computer equipment, printing errors, software, failure of any e-mail or entry to be received on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, delayed or garbled data or transmission, or any combination thereof including any injury or damage to an entrant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from downloading any material in the Contest, all of which may affect an entrant’s ability to participate in the Contest.

Sponsors accept no responsibility for losses, damages or claims caused by or resulting from the Contest.

Sponsors reserve the right to cancel or suspend any portion of the Contest should a virus, bug or other cause beyond the reasonable control of Sponsors corrupt the security or proper administration of the Contest. Any attempt to deliberately damage any website or to undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws, and should such an attempt be made, Sponsors reserve the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution.

By participating in the Contest, the Grand Prize winner and Secondary Prize winner agree that his/her name, residence, photograph, voice and/or image may be used in any and all forms of media, without any further compensation by Sponsors and waives all rights (including moral rights) with respect to printed, broadcast and other forms of publicity. Written confirmation of the foregoing in the form of the Consent referred to above must be executed by each of the Prize winners and provided to Alliance prior to such winner being declared eligible to receive a Prize.

All entries become the property of Sponsors and none will be returned.

All entries are subject to verification by Sponsors and Sponsors reserve the right to cancel and revoke any entries if they are found to be improper or if the entrant is subsequently found to be ineligible pursuant to the Rules.

In the event of unavailability of the stated Prizes (or any portion thereof), Sponsors, in their sole discretion, reserve the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value.

The Prizes are not transferable, not refundable, not redeemable for cash, will not be extended under any circumstances and must be accepted as offered. Any unused portions of the Prizes will be forfeited and will have no cash value. Sponsors shall not be liable to the confirmed winner of the Prize for any guarantee, warranty, condition or representation, express or implied, relating to the Prize, including without limitation, its quality, condition or fitness for a particular purpose.

By participating in the Contest, entrants agree to be bound by the Rules and the decisions of Sponsors in awarding the Prizes, which decisions shall be final and binding upon all entrants. Failure to comply with the Rules may void an entrant’s rights vis a vis the awarding of the Prizes. Interpretation of the Rules by Sponsors shall be final. Shipped Prizes shall not be insured and Sponsors shall not assume any liability for lost damaged or misdirected Prizes. Each selected entrant must be willing to accept delivery of the Prizes upon Sponsors’ terms and designated delivery times.

Sponsors may terminate the Contest at anytime and may amend the Rules or administration of this Contest without notice in Sponsors’ sole discretion in any commercially reasonable manner.

In the event of a dispute as to who submitted an electronic entry, the entry will be deemed to have been submitted by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at the time of entry. “Authorized account holder” is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, on-line service provider or other organization (e.g., business, educational institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. Selected entrants may be required to provide Sponsors with proof that he/she is the authorized account holder of the e-mail address associated with the selected entry.

The Contest is void where prohibited by law and is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations.
